Unplugged GT Update for April

Not sure why I haven’t been posting these to the blog before.  I’ve been sending out updates every month to the mailing list.  This seems like a logical place to post the info too.  So, on to our April update.

First and most importantly, the payment deadline will be May 15th.  This is also the day that army lists will be due for validation.  Anyone buying a ticket OR submitting a list OR submitting an illegal list past this date will be docked 5 points.  Please keep this in mind.  I will send out reminders the week before lists are due.  Also, if you have friends who plan on coming and haven’t gotten their tickets yet go ahead and do that!  We’re just about a month away from the deadline now.   WoooOOOOooo Spring Break!!  Oh wait… wrong event….

The comp has been finalized for now.  Warriors of Chaos and Daemons of Chaos received no comp, and that was the last bit we were waiting for.  Assuming High Elves come out the first week of May, we’ll probably be using the new book.  It’ll be a good 3 weeks between release and the event, and who doesn’t want to use the fun new stuff if they can.  If someone needs an exception to use the old book because the army changes dramatically and you are no longer legal (core choices drop in cost I’m thinking), then email comp@unpluggedgamers.com and we can discuss on a case by case basis.

In other news we have completed out first Chaos Waste tables.  The surfaces are currently packed up so I didn’t get a chance to take new photographs yet, but I will when we finish some more of them (hopefully this weekend).  I think they look really great.  The terrain is fairly different in style than the verdant or autumnal tables and should provide some nice variety with more impassible objects to combo with sparser forests.

We have signed on with Tectonic Craft Studios to provide Line of Sight tools for every player attending.  I won’t call it an arc, because it’s a unique design.  I think it’s an awesome tool though that every player should have, so we are making sure you all will!

I think that’s all for now.  Might do a second update in April.  As we get closer, a lot of stuff is coming together.

Cheers,
Jon

Most useful of the useless kits

So this Flaming Chariot of Tzeentch doesn’t really excite me at all.  Yet, the kit has so many great bits in it!!  I initially bought it and took out the herald to use on foot, figuring I would build the chariot later.  Turns out I won’t, I cannibalized it for parts instead!

Making a disc of Tzeentch that I can magnetize the herald on foot to.  Built the 3 blue horrors to put in my pink horror units (who cares if they are smaller), cut away the screamers, and plan to use the exalted flamer for a unit filler.  Awesome kit, just don’t build it as a silly looking chariot.  haha

Only thing I can’t decide on is how to use the exalted flamer.  He’s quite literally the size of a chariot base.  50x50mm and put him up higher so he sits over the top of the horrors?  Any other ideas?

I’ve just finished up my (fine cast) Doom Diver. This model was really fun to paint.

Spider Riders

I made a few minor tweaks to the Battle for Skull Pass Spider Riders in order to make them less ugly. I used static grass to cover the goofy designs on their bodies, I re-positioned one of the spiders to be rearing up, and I re-positioned the spear on one of the goblins. Hopefully the slight variety will make them a little more dynamic on the table top.

I’ve got a bone to pick with you!

Title says it all. Needed another Necromancer for my Bragging Rights list. This was my first time using the “Baby Poop” wash from Secret Weapon (on the skin). I’m really digging the effect.

First Knight Finished

Hey All,

I finished my first knight for Greg’s tournament.  It came out just as I planned.  I aim to paint the five of them up in the same way that I painted the archers, with a variable paint scheme that emphasizes blue, red, and cream but in different proportions on each model. As you can see, I converted a banner pole and added some bling bling in various places.  I could use him as a standard bearer in a unit or even a BSB if I wanted to.

One question for you: do you recommend that I use this pattern of shield on each of the five knights, or that I mix it up with different designs?  I am leaning toward giving each of them this lion shield because it is so wonky and weird…
